Patriot Acura Supports Safe Kids Maine Through Child Safety and Injury Prevention Initiative
At Patriot Acura, protecting families in our community is a priority that goes beyond transportation—it’s about safety, education, and awareness. Through our ongoing Patriot Cares, Patriot Shares program, we proudly partner with organizations dedicated to improving lives in meaningful, practical ways.
In September 2025, we were honored to support Safe Kids Maine, a nonprofit focused on preventing childhood injuries through education, outreach, and hands-on safety programs.
Preventing Childhood Injuries Through Education
Safe Kids Maine works to educate parents, caregivers, and communities on how to reduce preventable injuries among children. Their programs focus on real-world safety challenges and provide practical guidance that families can use every day.
Key areas of focus include:
- Car seat safety and proper installation
- Bicycle safety education
- Water safety (pools, lakes, and oceans)
- Home safety and fire prevention
- Gun safety awareness
Their mission is simple but critical: help keep children safe, healthy, and protected in every environment.
Hands-On Safety in Action
During our September initiative, the Patriot Acura team met with Executive Director Suzanne Grace while Safe Kids Maine was actively conducting a Car Seat Safety Check at the South Portland Western Avenue Fire Station.
These events provide hands-on education for families, ensuring that car seats are installed and used correctly to protect young passengers.
One statistic shared during our visit highlighted the importance of this work: in 2024, Safe Kids Maine car seat checks revealed that 9 out of 10 car seats were not installed or used correctly.
This reinforces just how essential their outreach and education programs are for local families.
Patriot Acura’s Contribution
Through our Patriot Cares, Patriot Shares initiative, Patriot Acura and Patriot Subaru proudly raised $2,250 during the first week of September (September 1–6).
These funds will directly support Safe Kids Maine’s efforts to:
- Expand car seat safety check events
- Train parents and caregivers on proper installation
- Deliver safety education programs in schools and communities
