Patriot Acura Supports the Animal Welfare Society
At Patriot Acura, we believe that caring for our community includes caring for the animals who are part of it. Through our ongoing Patriot Cares, Patriot Shares initiative, we proudly partner with organizations that make a lasting difference in the lives of people and their pets.
In July 2026, Patriot Auto Group was honored to partner with the Animal Welfare Society (AWS), supporting its mission to provide compassionate care, adoption services, and critical resources for pets and families throughout southern Maine.
Sponsoring Woofstock to Support Local Animals
As part of this partnership, Patriot Auto Group proudly sponsored Woofstock, the Animal Welfare Society’s annual community festival. Now celebrating its seventh year, Woofstock brings together animal lovers from across the region to raise funds that directly support the care of local animals in need.
Every dollar raised during the event helps AWS continue its life-changing work, ensuring pets receive the care, shelter, and support they deserve while connecting them with loving families.
More Than an Animal Shelter
During our visit, we had the opportunity to meet the dedicated AWS team and see firsthand the incredible work they perform every day.
The Animal Welfare Society is much more than a traditional animal shelter. It serves as a true safety net for pets and the people who love them by offering:
- Pet adoption services
- Affordable veterinary care
- Community pet support resources
- Programs that help families keep their pets during difficult times
One particularly meaningful service is AWS’s short-term pet housing program for individuals experiencing domestic violence. By providing a safe place for pets while families seek safety and stability, AWS helps remove one more barrier during an incredibly challenging time.
Meeting Some Special Four-Legged Friends
No visit to the Animal Welfare Society would be complete without spending time with some of its furry residents.
One unforgettable encounter was with Torro, a handsome Malamute mix who quickly stole our hearts. Moments like these serve as a reminder of the countless animals waiting for loving homes and the dedicated staff and volunteers working tirelessly on their behalf.
