August 2025: SailMaine
Patriot Acura Supports SailMaine Through Community Sailing and Education Initiative
At Patriot Acura, we believe Maine’s greatest strength lies in its communities—and in the natural resources that surround us. Through our ongoing Patriot Cares, Patriot Shares initiative, we proudly support organizations that expand access, opportunity, and enrichment for people across the state.
In August 2025, we were honored to partner with SailMaine, a community-based nonprofit dedicated to making sailing and waterfront education accessible to all.
Expanding Access to Maine’s Waterfront
SailMaine is committed to providing affordable access to the water through unique educational and recreational programs. By introducing people of all ages and backgrounds to sailing, the organization helps build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong connection to Maine’s coastal environment.
Programs offered by SailMaine include:
- Junior and adult learn-to-sail classes
- High school racing teams
- Adaptive sailing for individuals with disabilities
- City Sailor program for underserved youth
- Summer camp programs
Through scholarships funded by donations, grants, and corporate partnerships, SailMaine ensures that financial barriers do not prevent participation.
A Day on the Water in Portland
As part of our August initiative, the Patriot Acura and Patriot Subaru teams visited SailMaine’s sailing center on the East End of Portland.
We met with Executive Director Michael McAllister, who shared insight into the organization’s mission, programming, and long-term goals. After learning more about their impact, we were proud to select SailMaine as our August community partner.
It was a spectacular day on the water—an ideal setting to experience firsthand the energy, accessibility, and excitement that SailMaine brings to the community.
Patriot Acura’s Contribution
Through our Patriot Cares, Patriot Shares program, Patriot Acura and Patriot Subaru collectively raised $2,250 in support of SailMaine during August.
This contribution helps support scholarships, programming, and equipment that allow more individuals to experience sailing and waterfront education opportunities.

SailMaine’s impact extends far beyond sailing instruction. Their programs foster:
